- A Theology of the New Testament
Study the theology of the whole New Testament, from Jesus' preaching of the Kingdom to Revelation, and learn to teach it with depth and balance.
The course follows George Eldon Ladd's A Theology of the New Testament. Witness by witness, you study what the Gospels, Acts, Paul, Hebrews, the General Epistles and Revelation teach about God, Christ and salvation. One thread runs through it all: the Kingdom of God, already present in Jesus and still to come. You also learn how scholars debate these questions and how to weigh their views fairly.
What you will study
- How New Testament theology is done: God's acts in history, explained by his word
- John the Baptist and Jesus' message of the Kingdom of God
- Jesus as Messiah, Son of Man and Son of God, and the meaning of his death and resurrection
- The theology of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, and of the early church in Acts
- Paul's theology: sin, the work of Christ, justification, life in the Spirit, the Law, the church and the Christian hope
- Hebrews, the General Epistles and Revelation
