Preaching for Variety

A story, a parable or one rich verse does not speak like a letter of Paul. Learn six sermon patterns that let the shape of the passage shape your sermon.

Following Preaching for Variety, this course builds on the basic pattern of expository preaching and adds six more: narrative, life situation, biblical principle, key verse, comparison for parables, and the book sermon. You learn why looking for hidden meanings in every detail misreads Bible stories and how context guards meaning. The course ends with planning a year of preaching that opens the whole Bible.
