Stewards Who Serve: A Christian Guide to Management and Organizational Behaviour

Every church, school and clinic is made of people. Learn how people act at work, what moves them, and why conflict and stress arise, so you can lead them well.

With the WWES companion Stewards Who Serve beside the OpenStax textbook, this course teaches the main ideas of organizational behaviour. It begins with the person at work, moves to motivation, reward, groups and teams, and ends with leadership, power, politics, communication, conflict and stress. You read it with three Christian lenses: what is true by God's gift to all, where sin bends things, and how Christians help to set them right and learn to lead staff, volunteers and teams in your own setting.

What you will study

  • Image-bearers at work: personality, perception and attitudes
  • Why we work: motivation, reward and just wages
  • Groups and teams: one body, many members
  • Leadership as service, power and politics
  • Communication and conflict: speaking truth, making peace
  • Stress and finding rest
