Serve for about 32 weeks in a defined ministry role in your own church, under a ministry mentor, and grow as a Bible teacher, a carer and a leader.

This course is practice, not study. You teach the Bible, visit people who need care, work with children or young people under your church's policy, share the work with others, and care for your own life. You follow your own church's tradition. The year has three phases: foundations, ministry in practice, and gathering your work into a portfolio.

What you will do

  • Fulfil a defined ministry role faithfully, and be accountable for it
  • Teach a Bible passage faithfully, so that lives are changed
  • Give basic care in conversations and visits, also at the end of life
  • Know your limits, refer well and stay with the person
  • Work with children or young people, with their safety first
  • Lead an event with others, and equip another person
  • Reflect honestly on leadership and on your church's tradition
  • Care for your own life: rhythm, limits, rest and honest accountability
