- Transformative Bible Teaching
Many believers own a Bible yet cannot read it for themselves. Learn to teach so that people discover Scripture first-hand and are changed by it.
Following Transformative Bible Teaching, this course begins with why so much teaching leaves people dependent on the teacher. It turns to discovery teaching, which asks more than it tells, and to the teacher's character. Then it gives a simple method of study (observe, interpret, apply) and shows how it works in six kinds of biblical writing. You practise teaching in your internship, following your own church's tradition.
What you will study
- Why Bible teaching fails, and God's call to teach
- From lecture to discovery: asking rather than telling
- The teacher's character, and why it comes before skill
- Observation, interpretation and application
- Planning a lesson around one big idea
- Teaching law, prophecy and visions of the end, and seeing Christ in them without allegory
- The Gospels, the letters and wisdom books, with Jesus as the model teacher
- Telling what a text clearly teaches from where faithful Christians differ
