Paul's Letters and Legacy

Next to Jesus, no one has shaped Christian thinking more than Paul. Read his letters to real churches with real problems, and see the one gospel they share.

Following Paul's Letters and Legacy, this course first reads each letter by its readers and its crisis, from Romans and Galatians to the letters Paul wrote for the next generation of leaders. Then it shows how the letters form one gospel: God's verdict at the cross, one new people of Jews and Gentiles, the hope of resurrection and new creation, and a way of reading the Old Testament forward to Christ.

What you will study

  • Romans: the gospel as God's righteousness
  • Corinthians: the cross as the pattern for ministry, and strength in weakness
  • Galatians: freedom, and a teaching that adds to faith in Christ
  • Ephesians, Philippians and Colossians: one new people in Christ
  • Thessalonians: hope for a young church under pressure
  • Timothy and Titus: leaders and sound teaching for the next generation
  • Justification, reconciliation and adoption
  • Resurrection, new creation and how Paul reads the Old Testament
