The Acts of the Apostles

Follow the gospel from a small group in Jerusalem to the capital of the empire. See how the Spirit carried it across every barrier.

Following The Acts of the Apostles, this course reads Acts as what the risen Jesus "began to do and to teach" and still does through his Spirit and his people. You follow Pentecost, Stephen, Philip, Peter and Paul all the way to Rome. Then you look at the church Acts builds: how the apostles read the Old Testament and preached Christ, how Paul trained leaders, and how to tell what Luke describes from what binds every church.

What you will study

  • Pentecost: the Spirit comes and the church is born
  • Stephen, Philip and the gospel crossing to Samaritans and an African official
  • Peter, Cornelius and the door opened to the Gentiles
  • The Jerusalem Council: deciding a hard question together
  • Paul's journeys, his trials and the road to Rome
  • The apostles' preaching: one fixed message, many starting points
  • How Paul raised local leaders, and then left
  • Why opposition and suffering carried the word forward
